Coming from an econ background, I’d say having something related to coding experience gives a pretty positive tilt to the application. That can be anything — university coursework, online, bootcamp, or even passion projects that you advertise on a Github. I would also say the language you choose to study is flexible — Python or R are the most popular, but I learned C++ first and it was still pretty transferable!
